General Information
On 15 November 2009 municipal elections were organised in the municipality of Ranilug/Ranillug for the first time. Through these elections a new multi-ethnic municipality was established in accordance with Ahtisaari's Comprehensive Status Proposal. This new municipality is composed of the 13 cadastral zones and was formerly part of the municipality of Kamenicë/Kamenica, in the easternmost of Kosovo.

The municipality is mostly inhabited by Serb residents, although also a small Albanian community resides in Ranliug/Ranliug.

The main problems that are faced by the communities are the high rate of unemployment and a transport problem for the Albanian pupils.

Political Representation
Gradimir Mikic (GIZO) is the mayor of Ranilug/Ranillug. He was elected in the first mayoral election round with 71,11 percent of votes. The Albanian community is represented in the municipality through the Deputy Mayor for Communities, Lulzim Cinaj. 

The official languages in the municipality are the Serbian and Albanian language, while the regulations on implementing the Law on the Use of Languages are being prepared.

Safety and Freedom of Movement
The Kosovo Police is responsible for the security in the municipality. The residents of Ranilug/Ranillug are satisfied with the services of the Kosovo Police and feel free to travel around in the municipality. There have been no ethnically motivated incidents reported in the last year.

Education
The municipality offers pre-school facilities, primary and secondary education their  is 4 school in municipality of ranilug .  the Primary school, secondary school, pre-school, And there was a office of Mitrovica college. 

All this school is operate under the Serbian system of education. We get info hoe many people working in parallel education system is around 600 Serb. This is  info form the parallel institution. The Albanian community enjoys education in Kamenië/Kamenica or Gjilan/Gnjilane. Their main problem is the transport towards the schools.

The most important problem concerning the return-process is the high rate of unemployment and property issuesin the municipality. The municipality is working on a plan for the provision of aid.

Health Care

There are ambulanta in every village for primary health provisions. The Serb doctors have difficulties with communicating in Albanian; but they provide help to every patient, regardless of ethnic origin. There are no Albanian doctors employed in the health centres.

Other Public Institutions
Residents receive documents in their own language and expeience no further problems in communicating or accessing the municipality.
