General Information
The municipality of Junik is located in the south-western part of Kosovo between the municipalities of Deçan/Decane and Gjakovë/Dakovica. Since October 2008, Junik is a fully-fledged municipality, where between 1962 and 2005 it was divided between Deçan/Decane and Gjakovë/Dakovica. Junik is now composed of two cadastral zones, the town of Junik and the villages of Jasiq/Jasic and Gjocaj/Docaj which were heavily destroyed during the 1999 conflict and are mostly uninhabited. The total population of the municipality is estimated at 10.000 people, all Kosovo Albanian. Before the 1999 conflict, there was a more multi-ethnic composition, with about 700 Serbian inhabitants.

The main problem in the municipality, is the high rate of unemployment due to the lack of employment opportunities.
